Supporters Demand Detainment of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the pop star are urging that a man who leaped a barrier and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A viral footage reveals the Australian man bypassing photographers and lunging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account contains videos of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over Grande's Safety
Several supporters criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote another message on Instagram.
A number of fans also criticised security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of attendees had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be premiered on November 21, is the second of a two-part version of the acclaimed theatrical musical Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely bond between two very different witches.
The show itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning film of the previous year in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, earning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
