Soccer Expert Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game winning streak was ended by the Black Cats before the international break, however can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.
In week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
The singer's new record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.
"I won't push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football team," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this game will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's only away victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was still that team's manager.
So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.
A family member told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a danger.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
Olly's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.
They have have lots of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.
Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.
But I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly love to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
