Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to change things and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
