President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Mourners gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to assist law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the individual that educators desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of her alma mater, told the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy led the administration to pause asylum applications and halt providing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey said on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit the family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
