Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
