Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician has been charged with performing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
